Tardis House – Parsons Green, Fulham

In Parsons Green, EMR Architecture transformed a traditional Victorian terrace into a vibrant and highly personalised family home. The project included a loft conversion, a basement extension with central lightwell, and a generous kitchen extension — all designed to maximise light, space and character while respecting the house’s heritage.

A shared rear drain meant the basement lightwell had to be repositioned to the centre of the house. What began as a constraint became a defining feature: the central lightwell now floods the lower ground floor with natural light and serves as the backdrop for a bespoke graffiti wall, giving the house a bold, urban edge.

The clients — a creative couple with two children — wanted a home that reflected their personality as well as their practical needs. A playful highlight is the TARDIS-inspired shower, a tribute to Doctor Who, while the loft conceals a hidden home office accessed through a custom-built bookshelf. These elements combine theatre with functionality, creating spaces that surprise and delight.

Throughout, the interiors carry a layered warmth: exposed brickwork in the kitchen, bespoke timber and glass detailing on the staircase, and a colourful, light-filled children’s bedroom. Large glazed openings connect the main living areas to the garden, which EMR also designed to complement the home’s character and enhance family life outdoors.

Tardis House is a striking example of how architectural problem-solving and bespoke design come together to create a Fulham family home that is practical, imaginative and full of personality.
