Chiswick House
Located in the Turnham Green Conservation area, this house was full of character, such as the stairs that we restored and kept, but was tired, lacking natural light, practicality, and storage. The clients fell in love with the location, the garden and the potential but appointed EMR to deliver a home that embraced their way of life as well as their design taste.
We successfully obtained planning for the basement and rear extension and went back to brick so all the rooms have a purpose and are used daily by this family.
The ground floor is full of Crittall glazing to let the light travel and focus on the beautiful garden. There is a double living room, a music room/office, a shower room/cloakroom, and a kitchen with a walk-in pantry. In the basement, a media/games room, a loo, a gym, a sauna/shower room, a utility, and a plant room. Upstairs we have created 6 bedrooms, one of which is used as an office, 3 bathrooms (one en-suite), and a walk-in dressing room for the master.
The house is now practical, full of light, and a timeless beauty.
