Inkerman House
Situated in the cherry tree lined Edwardes Square, Scarsdale, and Abingdon Conservation Area, EMR has achieved a remarkable milestone by obtaining planning approval for a transformative project that breathes new life into a historic home.
The focus of our efforts was on maximizing natural light and creating an open, inviting space for our clients. We replaced the existing lower ground floor rear extension with a carefully crafted design, which includes lowering the floor by 320mm, sleek strengthened flat roof lights, and elegant Crittall style aluminium French doors and windows. These additions not only brightened up the once dark and impractical interior but also seamlessly integrated with the historical architectural details, maintaining the area's unique charm.
A custom Crittall style black fixed window was thoughtfully incorporated at the back of the ground floor, both internally and externally, creating a double-height space that bathes the hallways, stairwells, and adjoining living room in natural light. The resulting ambiance exudes warmth and openness.
We embarked on a successful replacement of the existing loft space and front rooftop. A sophisticated rear mansard roof and terrace were born, providing an exquisite outdoor haven that boasts complete privacy and highly sought-after outdoor space in the heart of Central London.
The pursuit of perfection did not stop with the exterior, as we dedicated ourselves to the interior with a full refurbishment and a well-considered reconfiguration of the layout. Every aspect of this project has been meticulously designed to elevate our client's living experience, offering a seamless blend of practicality, comfort, sophistication, and luxury.
At EMR, our passion for architectural excellence and attention to detail shine through in every aspect of this project. We are immensely proud to have contributed to the transformation of this historic property, breathing new life into its timeless beauty while embracing modernity and the essence of open living.
